The Original Superplant

  • First discovered by New Zealand’s indigenous Māori people
  • Used in traditional medicine to treat scalds, burns, joint pain, insomnia, fevers, colds, sore throats, dysentery, digestion issues, dandruff, and bad breath
  • Dr. Peter Molan, a noted New Zealand biochemist, confirmed the antibacterial properties unique to the nectar produced from this particular plant

It’s Rare

  • Grows in remote coastal areas, some reachable only by helicopter, and flowers just three weeks a year
  • Bees must only be exposed to Mānuka – when bees pollinate other blooms as well, it lowers the potency of the honey
  • Overall honey production is largely dependent on weather conditions
